Why I Recommend a Centrifugal Juicer Over a Masticating Juicer…
Implementing small changes to your daily regimen can make a whole lot of difference! This can be attested by Joe Cross, an Australian businessman for whom juicing literally saved his life.
Juicing not only helped him lose over 80 pounds but he was also able to recover from an autoimmune disease.
Juicing, particularly green juicing, is currently trending for good reasons. It has gained much popularity due to numerous health benefits associated with consuming greens on daily basis.
By now everyone is convinced “you’ve got to eat your greens,” and juicing is the most convenient way to achieve the daily intake of nutrients locked up in greens recommended by the USDA.
Drinking green juice doses the body with instant nutrition resulting in a powerful kick that has incredible effects on your health from the inside out. These health benefits include improved immunity, heightened energy levels, weight loss, blood pressure regulation, improved memory, plus it is good for the skin.
Now that you are beginning to realize juicing is an important part living a health conscious life, you will need a juicer to prepare these healthy drinks… because, a juicer offers the perfect way to extract the nutrients, vitamins, enzymes, minerals and (obviously) juice from whole fruits and vegetables.
So, which is the best juicer to use to get the best value and service?
There are only two types of juicers to choose from: The centrifugal juicer and the masticating juicer.
Masticating vs Centrifugal Juicer
The difference between these two types of juicers lies in their mode of operation and the underlying technology.
Just as the name suggests, the Masticating juicer masticates, meaning it chews up the fruits and vegetables into pulp, at a low speed to extract the juice. On the other hand, centrifugal juicers use centrifugal force, driven by a high speeding motor, to grind food into pulp in order to extract the juice.
Just like a washing machine spins to extract water from wet clothes, the juice is similarly extracted, by the centrifugal juicer, from the fruits and vegetables by this spinning force. The juice is filtered through the tiny holes in strainer’s basket, which is then collected in a pitcher. The pulp left behind is manually removed, though some models have an automatic pulp ejector.
Masticating vs Centrifugal Juicer – Which is the Best Juicer Machine?
The problem with masticating juicers is that they are very expensive, with most units costing $500 or more. Centrifugal juicers, on the other hand, are quite affordable with a decent new entry-level unit going for $50 to $60.
For around $60 you can purchase the Hamilton Beach 67608 Stainless Steel Big Mouth Juice Extractor, which will get you a solid juicing machine without having to make a huge cash investment.
There are also high-end centrifugal juicers with all the features and benefits anyone could ever want.
However, these units do not come cheap; you are likely to spend 2 or 3 hundred dollars on such an appliance. For about $270 on Amazon you could get the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000, Watt Juice Extractor. This is among the best juicing machines available.
There are numerous other juice machines that fall in between the two extremes which offer great quality and value for money. Such models will cost you $100 to $150.
A juicer within this range, worth investing in is the Breville juice fountain plus juicer.
The Benefits of Centrifugal Juicers Go Beyond Being More Affordable Than Masticating Juicers
Commonly available: They are the most commonly available juices that you can easily purchase online at Amazon.
Easy clean juicer: They are also very easy to use and clean.
Offer speedy juicing: Most importantly, they are fast because of the high-speed spinning mechanism.
Due to their numerous benefits and consequently high demand, there are hundreds of different centrifugal juicer models currently available in the market. In Amazon alone, there are 240 different models on sale.
With such variety, it is hard to decide which model to settle for.
Since most of these units have a similar underlying mechanism, your major guiding principle will be how much you are willing to spend.
Secondly, you will need to decide which features you value most in a juicer.
For instance, if you want to avoid having to chop the vegetables and fruits every time you juice, you need to purchase a machine with a large feeding tube. If you have limited storage space in your house, you’ll need to settle for a more compact model.
Another important aspect to consider is the durability of the model which includes, checking the quality of the movable parts such as the blades and the plastic cover.
Fortunately, if you shop online at Amazon, it will be quite easy for you to find a good quality unit by looking at the customer reviews, price comparisons, and the overall rating.
Basically, make a list of your needs and preferences, then go for a fairly priced model that has an overall rating of above 4.0 from a decent number of reviews.
